Vacaville fire study recommends 5th ambulance, 5th fire engine

VACAVILLE — Add another ambulance, expand Fire Station 72 on Ulatis Drive and add a fifth fire engine with crew to be located somewhere in the core area of the city.

Vacaville should also give serious consideration to planning for construction of a sixth fire station as the city continues its expansion.

Those are some of the recommendations made in a study to ensure that Vacaville is well covered for fire and emergency medical service for the near future.

The new study created by Citygate Associates of Folsom recommended a 7-minute, 30-second response time for medical emergencies and an 11-minute, 30-second response time for effective response force incidents such as fires.

“We really need that fifth ambulance,” [Chief] Concepcion said.

Concepcion stressed these are just recommendations and more planning needs to be done to turn them into reality.
